Problem Solving
Problem-solving software associated with cognitive learning theory. These software is much more sophisticated type of learning then the drill and practice exercise. In this problem solving software the computer present learner with complex problem, where by the learner can learn better and improve their problem solving skills. The problem solving program are designed to promote students high-level of thinking, because when they interact with the program they can move from simple to more logical and systemic thinking processes. Problem solving software is a general category for teaching problem-solving strategies, when simulation programs attempt to model real life situation.
Integration with lesson
- This software is mainly designed to improve thinking level of students, so
- Teacher need to identify the skills that a particular problem solving program before the learner/students uses the program.
- Teacher should provide students with learning goals and a work schedule and even give them with enough time to interact with the software.
- Teacher need to transfer activities, that should used other then computer.
Multimedia-encyclopedias and electronic books
Multimedia encyclopaedia stores a huge database with full text, images, animation, audio and videos. So students can use the multimedia encyclopaedia software to assess any information having vast content and even can download relevant data.
Electronic books presents textual information for reading, but is supplemented with other types of multimedia information(Sound, spoken voice, picture and animation). So students can use electronic books as a tutor to learn.
Integration with lessons:
- Teacher preparation is very much important for use of these types of software, as they frequently do not directly 'teach' in the sense that the other types do. These are some of the suggestion that teacher need to plan before using the software.
- Teacher might demonstrate the variety of ways to search information.
- Teacher can use the software for whole classroom presentation to increase effectiveness of their lesson.
- teacher should provide very clear question that the students can answer with the software.
- Teacher can assign topic for a group of students to do research by searching information stored in the software.
the integration with lesson is very interesting but it would have been better if you had written the integration of multimedia and encyclopedia and electronic book separately...overall it is a good job
ReplyDeleteproblem solving is a software that can enhance higher order thinking, and you have not missed a point here which is a plus point for a teacher. you have jot down the methods to to use this software in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteyou have even briefly explained about the Multimedia encyclopaedia and not missed a point.
Yes you are right but teacher is not always the person who should work but students must get involved in particle work too. Over all good points.
ReplyDeleteArjun, good job!i enjoyed reading your work but it would be good if you could explain little more on electronic book would be good.
ReplyDeleteIts good that you have explained the benefits of the above mentioned strategies, but would have been better if you can analyze and mention its drawbacks and also it would be good if you could analyze the role of students too. In nut shell you have understood and clearly mentioned the required points and thank you for letting me understand....
ReplyDeleteeverything clear but why dont you also mention the roles of the students???????
ReplyDeleteRegarding the integration of lesson, you have only mentioned about the teacher's role, what the teacher does, what they have to do and etc.. You have not mentioned about the student's role. I think the teacher and the student should be equally involved.
